Maureen James Pendleton recently marked her 30th year in education, having spent 19 years as an elementary teacher, three years as an academic coach, six years as an assistant principal, and one year as a principal. As an administrator, she oversaw TK–8 Homeschool and TK–5 Independent Study programs. She holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
“My nephew once said to me, ‘You know you’ve never actually left school, right?’ He was both amused and baffled—but it’s true. Being part of the educational journey and serving future generations has always been my passion,” she says.
Ms. James Pendleton’s educational philosophy closely aligns with the values of Lighthouse Charter School, making her especially excited to join the LCS team.
Julian David has joined the Lighthouse family as a natural-born leader who is excited to contribute to the positive culture of our community. This is his third year as an administrator, following nine years in the classroom and a total of fourteen years as a coach. Throughout his career, Julian has led multiple athletic teams as both a coach and player, served on safety teams across two campuses, and advised the Black Student Union for three years. He holds a Master’s degree in Education and is eager to put it to work in service of our students and staff.
Inspired by the teachers and coaches who guided him, Julian has always felt called to support and lead future generations. Reflecting on the impact of his mentors, he shares, “My mentors walked so that I could run; I run so that my students can fly.” Julian brings a calm yet firm presence and an action-oriented leadership style that make him an excellent fit for Lighthouse Charter School—and we are thrilled to welcome him to our community.
